New Zealand AI Maturity Index 2026

Thank you for taking part.

This page explains what we collect, what we publish, and what we do not do.

1. Who we are

MomentumIQ, Level 2, 99 Quay Street, The Ferry Building, Auckland.

We have produced the New Zealand AI Maturity Index since 2025 as an annual benchmark of how New Zealand organisations are adopting and governing AI.

2. Why we are asking

To publish the Index: a national picture that lets leaders compare their organisation against others in their sector, region and size band. There is no reliable New Zealand benchmark of this kind at present. Your answers are what makes one possible.

We also use what we learn to understand where organisations need support, so that if we do get in touch, the conversation is relevant rather than generic.

3. What we collect

Your answers to the survey questions, and the date you responded.

That is all, unless you choose otherwise at the end. The survey link is open and the same for everyone, so it does not record who you are, where you work, or who invited you.

If you choose to leave your contact details at the end, we then ask your name, role, organisation and email address. That part is optional, and it comes after your answers are already complete.

4. What we publish

Combined figures only: percentages, ranges and totals across many organisations.

We never publish your answers against your name or your organisation. We do not publish any figures that could lead to your organisation being identified. Where a sector, region or size band is too small to report safely, we combine it with another or leave it out.

Two parts of the survey carry extra protection. Answers about spending, and answers about whether an AI tool has produced something significantly wrong, are reported only as national totals. Individual answers are never published or shared.

5. Who sees your individual answers

The MomentumIQ research team working on the Index.

If you ask us to get in touch, a MomentumIQ consultant will also see them, so the conversation starts from something useful rather than from scratch.

Nobody else sees them.

6. What we do not do

We do not sell your information.
We do not add you to a marketing list because you completed the survey.
We do not share your answers with other participants, sponsors or media.
We do not name your organisation in anything we publish without your prior written consent.

7. The prize draw

If you enter, we use your contact details to run the draw and to contact the winner. We will not announce a winner's name or organisation without their written consent.

8. How long we keep it

We keep survey anwers for 7 years, so the Index can compare year on year.

We keep contact details until you ask us to remove them, or for 3 years from our last contact, whichever comes first.

9. Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email info@momentumiq.co.nz or security@momentumiq.co.nz and we will respond within 20 working days.

You can ask us to remove your contact details at any time. We will delete them and unlink them from your answers. Your answers stay in the combined dataset, where they are no longer identifiable as yours.

If the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction, a dispute can be lodged with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
