Cybersecurity, Risk & Governance, answered.

Straight answers to the questions New Zealand leaders ask us most about cybersecurity, risk and governance.

01What cyber security services does MomentumIQ provide?

MomentumIQ provides cyber security, risk, privacy and governance consulting for New Zealand organisations. Services include security posture assessments, risk assessments, security architecture reviews, policy and framework development, and security assurance for projects. Cyber security is a trust layer across all our work, so security and privacy are designed into every AI, data and technology initiative from the start rather than checked at the end.

02How do we know if our organisation is secure enough?

Start with an independent cyber security assessment against a recognised framework. It shows your current controls, the most likely threats to your organisation, and the gaps that carry the highest risk. You then get a prioritised remediation plan sized to your budget. MomentumIQ is itself certified to CyberCert SMB1001:2026 Gold Level 3, so we understand both the standards and what it takes to meet them in a real business.

03How does the Privacy Act 2020 affect our technology and AI projects?

The Privacy Act 2020 sets rules for how New Zealand organisations collect, use, store and share personal information, and requires notification of serious privacy breaches. Any project that touches customer or staff data, including AI tools, must comply. MomentumIQ runs privacy impact assessments and builds privacy-by-design controls into projects, so you meet your obligations and maintain the trust of your customers.

04What is responsible AI, and how do we put it into practice?

Responsible AI means using AI in ways that are fair, transparent, secure, accountable and respectful of privacy. In practice that requires an AI policy, a register of AI use cases, risk assessment for each use case, human oversight of important decisions, and regular monitoring. MomentumIQ helps you set up responsible AI governance that fits your size, so you can adopt AI quickly without exposing your organisation or customers to unnecessary risk.

05How should boards and executives govern technology and cyber risk?

Boards should treat technology and cyber risk as business risk, with clear accountability, regular reporting and defined risk appetite. Useful steps include a technology risk register, cyber metrics in board reporting, tested incident response plans and periodic independent review. MomentumIQ supports boards and leadership teams with governance frameworks and executive briefings that make technology risk understandable and actionable.
